I love technology, don’t you? It still amazes me every day when my kids show me something new that we can do with internet, satellite, etc. But can I be honest for a second? Sometimes we get burnt out on looking at screens all day. Seriously. We love it but sometimes we just need a break from it. When my family had the opportunity to review the grade 1 complete math curriculum from ThemeVille Math, I was honestly delighted that it would be an in our hands workbook!

The Grade 1 began with a few pre-lesson activities to help us prepare for our work ahead. Our first lesson was working on numbers 0-10 which helped get our mindset into our math work and ensure we were ready for the upcoming lessons. This grade level curriculum begins with numbers 0-10 and goes through such lessons as addition with number lines, subtraction, counting money, word problems, addition equations, hundreds chart, skip counting, subtraction with number lines, data analysis and ordinal numbers. It progresses nicely from one lesson to the next.

Before beginning each lesson our first grader completed a pre lesson activity. We found this very beneficial as it helps us to focus on the task at hand, brings to memory our previous lesson and also helps explain the lesson we are about to work on.
Although many of the lessons are self explanatory or they were easy for me to explain because I remember how to do them, it is wonderful that this curriculum gave us access to online video tutorials that explained each lesson in an easy to understand format. We found the videos very beneficial as we progressed through the lessons and I myself needed a “refresher course” in explaining how to do certain problems. I believe the video lessons would be very valuable when I need to step away from my first grader for a moment to do other things or if I want her to practice independence and have her watch the videos and complete a lesson on her own.

Math is very important in our homeschool. We believe it a necessity to understand and enjoy math each day as it will help in so many life skills as they grow. This math curriculum is rich, engaging and will be a wonderful asset in our home. I hope you will take a look at their Social Media Links:
