MathandAlgebra.com – My Review

Anyone who knows me or knows my family knows that we love and appreciate education. We value and appreciate all educators and anyone who tries to make learning better or more fun or more attainable for others. One of the subjects I have personally struggled with is math. When asked to review MathandAlgebra.com I read over the course description and was honestly eager to begin using it in our home. I am going to be honest with you all: I have always had a little fear of math and I really, really never wanted my children to have that. Lucky for me we have great people who create programs like this to help us!

This course offers classes in Elementary, Intermediate, PreAlgebra,
and Algebra 1. It includes video tutorials, lessons, dashboards for me as the parent and offers them for each child. Quizzes are available and are scored and recorded which helps with record and grade keeping! My kids found they could earn medallions, and badges that really helped with motivating them to complete each section. We found the course to be very user friendly. The materials are based on the award-winning Math Essentials
books, which some of you may be familiar with as home educators.

I was hoping this program could be used by each child independently with little or no help from me and it turned out that my children worked remarkably well on their own with this program with no major problems. Each chose the math level according to the work they are currently on. If the work felt too “easy” for the, I suggested they work a little while on it and if it continued to feel repetitive, to move on to the next level. This was not too time consuming and I feel that working on something you have already covered just helps us to move forward and see how far we have actually progressed. It also helped us see if we felt that we needed to work on anything as a refresher or to go back to make sure we had actually mastered it. My children were fine with working in this manner as we discussed the importance of mastering concepts of math as it helps in learning on the next level.

The vidoes were extremely helpful in explaining each math concept and process.

My children found the videos enjoyable and easy to follow along with. I love the fact that the scores for quizzes are recorded and that I can print out worksheets that correspond with each lesson and I can save them for our personal records. Overall, we found this math program to be very useful in our home and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reliable math program for their child.

Working independently helps with high school courses and will help with future college classes. This course was thorough enough to create a challenge yet not overwhelming as to cause frustration.

I hope you will take a few moments to visit and see how the Review Crew used this product in their home:
